Description

Advantages of the gas oxamat:

  • Heating with cartridge burner or large gas burner, no heavy vehicle batteries are needed
  • top-mounted tab dispenser for 35 pieces of oxalic acid tabs
  • temperature sensor in the evaporator bowl, as well as temperature display on the control panel
  • completely closed system, since the device has not to be opened during the new assembly
  • short treatment times, you can treat 20 colonies per hour
  • with a gas cartridge of 600 ml, depending on the ambient temperature, about 40 treatments are possible, by using a large gas burner with 5 kg propane cylinder about 800 treatments are possible
  • during winter treatments, the temperature rises by about 15 ° C due to internal additional heating surfaces, it gets up to 30 ° C under the hood and the bees loosen up from the winter cluster, thus the oxalic acid crystals get into the coat of all bees
  • highest efficiency with optimum safety for the user
  • finely evaporated oxalic acid is highly effective against the varroa mites, it only has to be brought to the hair coat of the bees with the appropriate device. The gas oxamat makes it excellently in a short time, completely without side effects and nearly completely independent of the outside temperature

How to do it

The Oxamat is installed onto the transparent cover with two openings. The form of the cover divides the formed cavity into 2 parts.
Evaporation can be very well observed through the transparent cover by the beekeeper. Evaporation begins approx. 1 min after the start and oxalic acid steams circulate in the cycle through the honeycomb lanes. The heating switches off after approx. 4,5 min, while the exhaust is continued to run, until it is clamped.
After altogether 6 minutes no oxalic acid steams are not present anymore and the Oxamat could be applied to the next colony, thus 10 colonies can be treated per hour.

The evaporation time is stopped in such a way that the heating switches itself off automatically, after everything is evaporated.

Announced at the patent office

Tip’s to the oxalic acid

Oxalic acid, also clover acid mentioned, heard to the group of the dicarbonic acids. It forms color and odorless prism tables of crystals, in water and ethanol are well soluble.

With careful heating up on 100°C one maintains crystal water-free oxalic acid.

With to fast heating up oxalic acid disintegrates into oxygen, Carbon monoxide and water.

Apart from the technical quality with a content of 99,5% it indicates still another current high-quality type as a content of 99,8 %, which by small iron and sulfate content is characterised.

Oxalic acid is present in form of prismatic crystals. It is smell and colorless and it is very well water soluble.

Additional informations

The varroa mites are fought by the fine distribution of the evaporated oxalic acid in the closed cycle with the bee’s hive extremely effectively. By several applications in the time without brood – efficiency of approximately 99%

Very high user’s safety

Low power consumption

The evaporation bowl can be filled easily outside the hive body

The oxalic acid air current is continuously kept in a cycle by the bees, at the beginning of the evaporation. Besides, the fine coat of hair of the bees has an effect like a filter. Therefore already after 6 minutes there are no free gases anymore. The ventilator continued to run till it is clamped. It deposits no oxalic acid in the hive parts or honey combs. You can treat approximately 10 bee colonies with it per hour.

The heating switches itself off after 5 minutes, the current consumption is therefore very small, 0.75 Ah per evaporation. With a 36 ah car battery 48 bee colonies can be treated approximately

No bee queen and/or bee losses (the breeding activity is not reduced) – no fodder robbery, oxalic acid smells perfectly neutral

Also suitable for plastic hive bodies, because there’s no concentrated heat development in the hive body

The evaporation method is extremely cheap, one treatment costs only a few cent. A press for the self manufacturing of oxalic acid tablets would be worth buying.
